How to Manage your Gorgeous Chaos – One Bite At A Time

Gorgeous ChaosWhen life is “spinning out of control”, it’s time to reflect on what you can do to create some semblance of order and manage the chaos.

Just pick a few things to “bite off” at a time. Work your way down the list.

  1. Accept that you are human, not a machine. You will make mistakes.
  2. Find some time for you to clear your mind. Even if you meditate 5 minutes in the morning (or have some other spiritual practice) and 5 minutes before bed, do it with as empty a mind as you can. (Alpha waves actually make us more productive!)
  3. Seek spiritual self-awareness. It is a great place to lean when you feel overwhelmed.
  4. Know that life will never be the “perfect” image you see in movies or magazines.  Stop trying to be supermom, superwife, superboss.
  5. Ask for help. Did you hear that? Ask for help. In fact, you already ARE superwoman. But even superwoman needs help.
  6. You need your girlfriends! You need a support system around you. It’s been clinically proven. End of story.
  7. If you’re not satisfied with your life – do something different! Change your career, work on your finances, communicate better with your partner.
  8. Learn the art of clear communication. Expecting someone to see your struggles and reach out and help is unrealistic. They’re juggling their own “stuff.” Talk about your needs and wants and find a compromise wherever you can.
  9. Be on the lookout for a woman mentor – someone who can guide you and help you think outside the box. A woman you admire. We all get stuck in our heads and worlds and often can’t see a solution. (Remember those blind spots we talked about?)
  10. Spend some seriously intimate time with your calendar. It’s often the best solution. Believe me. Calendar everything, including time for you! Then stick to it!
  11. Change your thinking. Your life is pretty gorgeously wonderful. Sure, some tweaks could change everything, but you still have to love where you are – because remember, you’re creating your tomorrow right now.
  12. Develop a good relationship with money. Money wounds create chaos in your life especially if you worry about not having enough money, don’t know how to handle money or are not in open dialogue with your partner around it. It impacts everything in your life.
  13. Find a way to reduce stress. It sounds obvious, but stress literally shuts down the executive functioning of your brain. That means you can’t make decisions or prioritize, and you make more mistakes.
  14. Embrace who you are. YOU are magnificent, gorgeous and perfect. Improve what doesn’t work, and know that the perfect is the enemy of the good.

You don’t need to leap 10 feet with every stride, nor do you have to swallow the elephant whole. Just put one foot in front of the other as you tackle small goals, and eat the elephant one piece at a time.
