Arriving in Roma was, as always, spettacolare! We landed in our beautiful hotel room on the Via Veneto, and were pleasantly surprised by a high floor and balcony. After sleeping 3 hours on the redeye, I dove into the “heavenly bed” of the Westin (which has taken over the Excelsior Hotel – and I must say, not without appreciation. The Italians are not known for their comfy beds!) and slept for 3.5 hours! Emerging happily, we went for went for a passaggiata (an evening stroll) in Borghese Gardens, which is nearby. Dinner was simple – A place Jerry had often wondered about called Abruzzi. We had a simple meal of pasta with cacio pepe (aka, salt, pepper and parmesan cheese. Simple and elegant.) Fatigued, of course, but the romance and love of this city keeps one awake. Watching a light rain fall on the city of Rome, we sat, drank our wine, ate our pasta, and remembered why we love this city.Thinking about how blessed we were to be spending an entire month in Italy, I thought, what can I do to spread this feeling I’m having, and I decided to blog nearly every day. In talking with Jerry about what to blog about – given my work, etc., and I realized that the thing I associate with Italy, is LOVE. So, I’ve committed to writing about all the ways my daily life in Italy this month, will feed the love I want to grow within. You’ll read my blog post about the connection of the heart and brain – and it will start to make sense.
The bottom line? I’m going to write every day about the things I’ve loved that day. I might recommend a similar exercise in your own life – whether you’re in your small hometown, a city apartment or traveling – it’s all about focus. I hope to cultivate this feeling of love more and more each day, and bring that home with me.
So, con amore, I will see you tomorrow!
Ciao!
